Grover Norquist has been an enormously significant figure in the conservative movement for three decades. Salon.com recently suggested that he might be “the conservative liberals can love,” but it is doubtful that too many liberals love his oft-repeated quote: “I don’t want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub.” Norquist, it is safe to say, is a conservative icon.
He is also a major advocate for conservative criminal justice reform, and he is one of the earliest signatories to Right on Crime’s Statement of Principles.
