The Texas Youth Commission (TYC) announced last week that it will commence a large closing of correctional facilities which will require the relocation of about 400 offenders.  Specifically the Al Price Juvenile Correctional Facility in Beaumont, Unit II of the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex in Brownwood, and the Crockett State School will be shut down, while the Mart facility will be consolidated into a single-unit facility as reported by several Texas news outlets and the TYC. These closures come after the recent TYC reform bill, which Right On Crime discussed here.
