Yesterday, Right On Crime Senior Fellow Jerry Madden participated in a panel discussion on HuffPost Live, examining recent legislation that seeks to reform a federal criminal justice system that has seen growth in its prison population of over 700 percent in the last several decades.

Hosted by Marc Lamont Hill, Madden was joined by reform advocates from Reason, The Sentencing Project, and Families Against Mandatory Minimums. In particular, the group discussed the strong bipartisan consensus that now is the time for significant reforms to take place, and mentioned that, with regards to the comprehensive SAFE Justice Act, House Speaker John Boehner has signaled his support for the legislation, and wishes to see it come to the House floor for a vote soon.
