In this interview on Flashpoint, a highly rated political talk show airing on Oklahoma City’s NBC affiliate, Right On Crime State Director Andrew Speno explains the importance and urgency of criminal justice reform. Speno’s interview is in parts 2 & 3 of the segment.

State Questions 780 and 781, two ballot measures on criminal justice reform which voters overwhelmingly approved in November, went into effect in Oklahoma on July 1, 2017. Sadly, even with those reforms, Oklahoma’s prison population is expected to grow 25% in the next nine years.  Oklahoma’s DOC Director announced last week state prisons are at 109% capacity and, if state inmates in county jails are included, capacity will be at 146%.

This interview highlights the severity of the crisis, the broad support for reform across the political spectrum, and why voters must demand action from their lawmakers.
