Washington, D.C. — Right On Crime, a national campaign of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, submitted a letter to Senate leadership expressing strong support for a bipartisan slate of legislation aimed at combating online child exploitation, sextortion, and digital coercion.
In a letter addressed to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, Right On Crime endorsed four bills advanced by the Senate Judiciary Committee: the Combating Online Predators Act, the Stop Sextortion Act, the Ending Coercion of Children and Harm Online Act, and the Sentencing Accountability for Exploitation Act.
“When children are targeted online, government cannot afford hesitation,” said Brett Tolman, Executive Director for Right On Crime. “This bipartisan package reflects a clear commitment to protecting children, strengthening public safety, and ensuring our laws keep pace with modern threats.”
Right On Crime emphasized that the digital landscape has evolved faster than federal law, allowing predators to exploit gaps through threats, extortion, and psychological coercion. The legislative package modernizes the criminal code to ensure law enforcement can intervene before irreversible harm occurs, while holding high-level adult predators accountable.
At the same time, the organization underscored the importance of precision in the justice system. The bills, as amended, focus prison resources on truly dangerous offenders while maintaining individualized justice—particularly when it comes to juveniles with lower culpability.
“The first responsibility of government is to protect its people—particularly the most vulnerable,” said Rachel Wright, National Policy Director for Right On Crime. “Our nation must be one that protects its children and prosecutes predators, full stop.”
Right On Crime urged the Senate to advance the legislation swiftly.
