Right On Crime’s Arkansas State Director, Wil Cheatham, is a practicing attorney focusing on family law and personal injury. Cheatham’s undergraduate degree is in Spanish and criminal justice from the University of Arkansas. Cheatham obtained his law degree from the University of Arkansas Little Rock’s Bowen School of Law.

Cheatham started his professional career in the FBI when he began working as an intern in the FBI Little Rock Field Office. His internship focused on counterintelligence. Over the next five years, his career in the FBI took him to FBI Headquarters in Washington both as an intern and again when he worked as an analyst in the Counterterrorism Division. In the Counterterrorism Division, he was assigned to a unit focused on terrorism financing.

Cheatham left the FBI in 2019 to pursue a law degree. In law school, Cheatham clerked for Amtrak working in the labor relations department and clerked for a national personal injury law firm.

Immediately after finishing law school, Cheatham worked as the campaign manager for then State Representative Mark Lowery’s successful bid for Arkansas State Treasurer.

With a resounding state-wide victory in hand, Treasurer-Elect Lowery appointed Cheatham as Chief of Staff and Chief Legal Counsel for the Arkansas State Treasury. In this role Cheatham oversaw the day-to-day operations of the Treasury including the management of an 11-billion-dollar investment portfolio.

Following the illness and subsequent death of Treasurer Lowery, Cheatham left the Treasury and served as a deputy prosecuting attorney for Arkansas’ 3rd Judicial District. This district encompassed Jackson, Lawrence, Sharp, and Randolph Counties. As a prosecutor, Cheatham was responsible for filing all felony informations for the city of Newport.

Cheatham is a native of Bentonville, Arkansas. He is a fan of the Hogs, golf, and the Indianapolis Colts.
